The Hobbit publicist Melissa Booth said she was unable to confirm locations. However, rumour has it Nelson (the second oldest settled city in New Zealand) will play host to 400-500 cast and crew during November and December 2011.

*knock knock* And another two Dwarves arrive at our doorstep!! One would almost expect a gracious bow and an "At your service!" with the way these pesky Dwarves keep arriving in twos and threes!
