Aspyr today announced that The Lord of The Rings: The Return of The King has gone "gold", finishing development on the third-person action/adventure title; Due early next month, it "puts the fate of Middle-earth in the hands of the gamer... players must destroy the One Ring by casting it into the Crack of Doom, freeing Middle-earth from the clutches of the Dark Lord Sauron." It offers eight playable and secret characters including Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Sam and Frodo with exclusive voice-over provided by the actual actors from the films as well as an all-new co-op multiplayer mode, 12 interactive environments, and seamless movie-to-game transitions. NORFOLK, Va., March 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Weta Workshop, the Academy Award- winning special effects studio responsible for creating many props and special effects used in New Line Cinema's "The Lord of the Rings" films has now created unique photographic images of characters not depicted in the movies for use in "The Lord of the Rings" Trading Card Game. The award-winning crew cast, costumed, and created character images earlier this year at their workshop in New Zealand for the popular strategy card game created and manufactured by Norfolk, Va.-based Decipher. . . more
