War of the Ring has a New Home

-- Posted by Fatty on Friday, September 6 2002 at 6:36 PM GMT

Well if you are reading this then you are looking at the site on it's new server. We still have a  few bugs to iron out, but most of the site should be working.

The forums are also open again, though they will be under a bit of construction for a while.

So a big thanks to all involved in making the move as painless as possible. A further thanks to our new hosts edge-host. They have been very helpful in giving us the kind of flexible terms that we required and a suitable machine for our needs. Thanks guys!

Thanks for your patience.

-- Posted by Fatty on Monday, September 2 2002 at 1:35 AM GMT

Today, 2nd September,  in 1973, J.R.R Tolkien died. Ronald is buried along with his wife in a single grave in Wolvercote cemetry in a suburb of Oxford.

The legend on the grave reads:

Edith Mary Tolkien, Lúthien, 1889-1971
John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, Beren, 1892-1973

So lets raise a glass to Tolkien for his great works which have delighted and inspired us all. Cheers!
