The Two Towers Game -- Posted by Fatty on Saturday, July 20 2002 at 2:39 PM GMT
Last year's adaptation of The Fellowship of the Ring to the big screen sparked newfound interest in J.R.R. Tolkien's classic literary works for an entirely new generation of people. While Tolkien's The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy have been standard reading material for any fan of fantasy for decades, his work has caught the attention of a much more mainstream audience since the movie's release. Spurring that mainstream craze for all things Tolkien will be a flurry of upcoming games from Sierra Studios, Vivendi Universal, and Electronic Arts. While the first two publishers are currently working on PC and video game adaptations of Tolkien's books, EA is the sole possessor of the movie license. And just as director Peter Jackson ............more
Thanks to Tolkien Movies for the details. We will upload these trailers soon as Gamespot's server is slow. Also check the additional clips that we have obtained. See above.
Sideshow/Weta at Comic Con Update -- Posted by Fatty on Saturday, July 20 2002 at 1:13 PM GMT
The place to be at this year's San Diego Comic Con will be in The Lord of the Rings Pavilion! The LOTR Pavilion will house many of the LOTR Merchandising Partners such as New Line Home Entertainment, Sideshow/Weta Collectibles, Houghton Mifflin, Games Workshop, Electronic Arts, and Decipher (and the official fan club). TheOneRing.net, the site forged by and for fans of J.R.R. Tolkien, will also be located in the LOTR Pavilion.
We expect the Pavilion to be packed as New Line Home Entertainment will be showing trailers from the upcoming Two Towers movie, and raffling off select home entertainment titles. The Sideshow/Weta team will be showcasing their product from the Fellowship film, giving away prizes, and debuting new Limited Editions. The Sideshow/Weta booth will feature an autograph area and feature life-size statues of Lurtz and the Ringwraith on Steed for fan photos! Houghton Mifflin, the book publisher, will be showcasing their LOTR companion books for the avid LOTR readers. Electronic Arts will be debuting their interactive The Lord of the Rings game, and will be giving away other popular EA titles for all the wired Tolkien fans. For the LOTR gaming fans, Games Workshop will showcase their LOTR table top gaming system and Decipher will be showcasing their LOTR card game and have tables set up for demonstrations and fan participation!
With all of these top notch companies coming together to celebrate LOTR, the event is not one to be missed. The Pavilion should be full of free stuff, fun events, guest celebrities and photo opportunities! This year's Comic Con is in San Diego, CA, and is being held August 1-4, 2002.

Just to let you guys in on the news first, we have confirmed that the alter-ego of Meriadoc Brandybuck, one Dominic Monahan will be with the Fan Club/Decipher at San Diego ComiCon!
The Con is a huge event and runs from August 1-4, with Decipher (the company that brings you The Lord of the Rings Fan Club, trading card game and roleplaying game!) holding a cornerstone booth in the LOTR Pavilion with others such as Games Workshop, Electronic Arts, Houghton-Mifflin, Sideshow and more!
The ever gracious and lots of fun Dominic will be with us on the Friday and Saturday, and will be holding free autographs and Q&A sessions each of those days!
Additionally, we are looking into giving first preference to card-carrying fan club members for a special "up close" event (more details to come),
And stay tuned for news about a Fan Club messageboard appearance by Dominic after the event (and after the poor guy has recovered!).
Exciting stuff! Look for the press release to be posted here and on decipher.com soon!
Cheers, Justin Pakes Director of Fan Services Decipher Inc.

Report on Viggo Book Signing -- Posted by Fatty on Sunday, July 14 2002 at 9:25 PM GMT
After having my train break down en route from Philadelphia to New York I arrived at Penn Station around 10:30 a.m. (an hour and a half later than planned). A brisk walk got me to Eleventh Ave. where I started to look for signs of lines, etc. to help me find the gallery. When I got to the address there was no line outside, so my spirits raised. I walked in to find a small lobby with an elevator (also empty) - which I got into.................more
