The gathering appeared to be a typical summer barbecue. Neighbors watched guests in Erick Irvis' back yard toss around a Frisbee as he tended the grill. But rather than hot dogs and hamburgers, Irvis was grilling Black Angus ribs and dense pieces of organically raised bison.
On the table inside, instead of egg salad and coleslaw, sat platters and bowls filled with dishes of Middle Earth cuisine, 22 in all!

This past May 25-27, four Decipher employees set out to break the Guinness World Record for "Card Playing Marathon" using The Lord of the Rings Trading Card Game. It was an idea born on the morning of Thursday the 23rd and realized 48 hours later.

Yesterday, Musso, a self-taught plane builder, was preparing to send a working replica World War I plane, the Nieuport 24 bis, to New Zealand. The silver plane with red white and blue markings was purchased by Peter Jackson, director of the hugely successful film, "Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Rings," which was released last year.

The IMDB news Web site reported a rumor that Peter Jackson's upcoming film adaptation of the second Lord of the Rings book will play up a love triangle among key characters. The upcoming sequel film, The Two Towers, is rumored to heighten the romantic tension among Aragorn (Viggo Mortensen), Arwen (Liv Tyler) and a character new to the film series, Eowyn (Miranda Otto), the site reported.
Citing an anonymous source, the site reported that there will be "plenty of tension between the three." The Two Towers opens Dec. 13.

"MovieDan82 reports that that one of the MPAA committee who watched a print of The Two Towers last week in order to give it a certification (it will be PG-13) is claiming that not only is it better than Fellowship, but is "The best movie I have ever seen." Most interestingly, he claims the running time is below Fellowship, at around 163 minutes."

Upper Deck has made some Lord of the Rings bobble-heads. They look really neat! The first series includes the Fellowship of nine. They won't be release until November.
