A sculpture creation by Tim Tolkien honouring the works of his relative, J.R.R. Tolkien, will be displayed on a Tolkien-themed pub in Moseley, Birmingham. Mr. Tolkien is J.R.R. Tolkien's great nephew.
He describes the statue: "The sculpture is based around the theme of The Lord of the Rings and starts from the ceiling with a dragon blowing out plumes of smoke that become rings."

Winner Gets Her Prize -- Posted by Fatty on Tuesday, August 20 2002 at 7:00 PM GMT
Well you might remember that Lisa, in Australia, won our first competition. It was to win a book ( The War of the Ring) signed by Billy Boyd.
Anyway we sent it last week and yesterday she got it. There is a twist in the tale too, a bit of a mistake on my part. Below is part of Lisa's e-mail.
Hooraahhhhh!!!!! Got the book this afternoon!!!!! Thank you so much. I knew I should have been a little more patient. It arrived in perfect condition, and I'll try to keep it that way, although it might be hard to stop myself from drooling over that autographed page. I think Pippin is now my favourite.... :)
Hey, was I meant to have that signed card as well or did you say that you were going to keep it. You have been so great, so I don't mind sending it back if you want it.
Anyhow we told Lisa just to keep the signed Topps card too. Afterall she did have to wait a while!
So thanks to Lisa for being a good sport and make sure you all have a go at our latest compitition.

The stunning Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring chess set features sculpted figures, each depicting a key character from the award-winning film in superb detail. Each hard plastic piece has either a pewter or bronze effect, with heroes depicted in pewter and villains in bronze. Each piece bears a great likeness to the characters in the film and the actors that played them. The chess set piece details are as follows:

Planet-Tolkien has got itself into some serious trouble. Whilst moving to our new web host a couple of months ago we used one of my credit cards to cover the transfer costs. Over those months we were not notified that the balance was six pound something over.. Due this we have been charged two hundred pound in fees to be paid in two day's time.
If you can help however big or small please do otherwise I am afraid PT is going to have to go down completely. I am very sorry to put us all in this position after so much hard work.
For those of you who have major credit cards and can help by donating an amount of money however large or small then please go to www.planet-tolkien.com and on the right side of the page is a box that say's "Please support us" with a "Make A Donation" button. Please click this button and follow the instructions.
If we don't get enough support to keep Planet-Tolkien going then I am sorry and would like to thank you all for the memories I have gained whilst running Planet-Tolkien. For those of you who do help then your nicknames will be posted on the main website as of the first donation including a total amount received so far.
