Sir Ian Holm is fighting prostate cancer. The 70-year-old actor, who plays Bilbo Baggins in Lord of the Rings, was diagnosed and treated late last year. Read more about his struggles here

"......The talk started with Richard Taylor introducing Gino Acevedi, before announcing the winner of the competition to "Become an orc" that Weta had been running on their stand. A Navy SEAL won the prize and while Richard and other Weta staff talked about the special effects and weaponry, Gino and another make-up artist (James Docherty?) worked on stage to transform the winner into an orc (see "How to become an orc in One Hour" below this report in the left hand column)..............see the photos

Hi folks we are doing our best to serve all the download requests coming in. The site is running very slow as the hard disks are flat out. But bear with us, after all it to the benefit of everyone to share some great stuff.
We have some mirrors but they will be up and down all night, but keep trying, we will not run out of bandwidth....I hope ;-)
So if you cannot download try a chat or the forum, though it will be slow too maybe.
So apologies for any inconvience, but as I say we do have thousands of poeple trying to download.
Oh also if you spot any sites linking to our files and not our page give us a shout, they are stealing our bandwidth and jepordising future exclusives. We hahve tracked most fo them down, but if you see give me shout on e-mail.

We have been informed by Quintessential Guide to Lord of the Rings that they have cleaned up and processed the The Two Towers TORn images provided by 'Lutz.
If you want to see them in all their glory you can see them here.
56k's beware, that they will take forever to load, since they have not had time to do them with thumbnails and pop-ups. Right now they are busy incorporating them into their Scene by Scene images.
Anyhow go and take a look and check out the rest of the site if you have not done so before.
Our own Illuvatar is busy updating our own photo section. Though we face the same delays due to the categorisation and naming.

Well seems that not a few people have gotten their hands on the DVD. Reviews are appearing all over the net.
In summary it appears the DVD looks great with the movie converting well, apart from some of the cgi looking a bit ropey.
The added extras on this first version don't seem up to much though. A few snippets, that many of us have seen, and some videos of Enya(our warbling Celtic friend) and a little gaming footage.
The one thing that does appear to be interesting is The Two Towers preview, which consists of Peter Jackson giving us a little guide to the new movie.
So overall if you can't wait it look like this is the one to get. For those who are only buying one version, wait till November and get the extended DVD.

There has been an outbreak of the forgery of Lord of the Rings swords, some being sold on ebay. Here at War of the RIng we heard from a relative of one of those who had been duped, "....believe it or not my cousin was taken by one of them......it is dull and the etcing is very crude..."
Our source said " people think they are getting an authorized or authentic sword from The Lord of the Rings collection and only get a cheap imitation"

For the month of July War of the ring has brought in over 20,291 Unique visitors and over 112,852 total hits!! For such a young site these are incredible numbers! This is due in no small part to the efforts of the staff, the enthusiasm of the fans, our up to date news, and our exclusive gaming footage!
