The LOTR started filming in Queenstown and then they advertise in the local paper for extras, I went for a interview and got two weeks work as a extra in the movie. We where filming in Queenstown and for some reason they could not get a back drop shot write, so we all went to Arrowtown to see if the second location would be better and it was, it was perfect. It was October and the river was slow and low, Ideal for the Black Riders and the horses.We filmed in Arrowtown for three days write in front of the town ship. The good thing about Arrowtown is that it only takes ten minutes to get in the bush and up Arrow Gorge where some .......more

Lord of the Rings devotees will soon have the chance to tour the New Zealand locations where Peter Jackson shot his film trilogy. Spying a lucrative market, Glenorchy Airs is launching a three-hour "Trilogy Trails" tour which will jet the punters around the films' key locations. "They can visit Lothlorien, and view the scenery where the battle of Amon Hen took place," gushes Glenorchy spokesman Robert Rutherford. "They can smell the smells and see the sights that Frodo Baggins and Samwise Gamgee felt."

The space needed to add a 19-minute musical score to the name scroll and the time required for Howard Shore to score and produce additional music -- means that neither space nor time was available to place the Charter Member name scroll on the first Theatrical Release DVD (due August 6th)..." After a pick-up filming involving several of the film trilogy's stars, including Liv Tyler, Viggo Mortensen, Elijah Wood and Sir Ian McKellen, film spokeswoman Claire Raskind yesterday confirmed that all had now left the country...Full Story

While his stay in Prague Sean Connery told a journalist that the role of Gandalf was offered to him but he denied because he didn´t understand the story with all this hobbits, elves and other characters. I still haven´t seen the movie but have heard that Ian McKellen did a good job and even have read the book probably.
