Site News - Another Server! -- Posted by Fatty on Tuesday, August 6 2002 at 9:02 PM GMT
Well I know a lot of people, especially ones new to the site have been wondering shy it is so slow.
To put you in the picture, we don't run off a 56k line as one poll comment asked, currently the site has a 100Mb/s connection on a 1.7 Athlon, 512 Ram, with a 40gb hard drive and 400gb of transfer a month.
However due to the increased popularity of the site, the server has been struggling to cope.
We have just bought an additional server, a Celeron 1.3, with 512 Ram, a 60gb 7500 disk and another 400gb of transfer.
All future downloads and present ones will be transferred to this server. this will free up the main server which holds the main site. This will happen in a few days and should mean that everyone can access the site without waiting for 10 minutes for a page to load.
There has been a slight delay as my own home connection is down and my main pc's power supply exploded today.
So hang in there and apologies for those who could not get on. This will not happen in the future, we hope.

Also in Misc you will find a crop of unsorted images from The Extended DVD.
In The Two Towers Misc -
A huge number of unsorted images from the upcoming film, a few duplicates, but some great closeups of treebeard and one of a certain Orc!

In The TwoTowers Trailers you will find -
A larger version of the Narrated Trailer in one part.
Additionally two large and high quality versions of the very first trailer, which was attached to The Fellowship of the Ring. Finally one that does not flicker.....though it does have soem small subtitles.
There are two versions; one about 18mb and the other is 36 or so. I am afraid for broadbanders only really. I will put up a smaller one very soon for all you 56k's.
In Fellowship trailers -
